CTU’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Development Holds 3rd RD Council Meeting in Cebu City

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Development (OVPRD) of Cebu Technological University successfully convened its 3rd Research and Development (RD) Council Meeting on July 1–2, 2025, at a premier hotel in Cebu City. Presided over by the Vice President for Research and Development, Dr. Pet Roey L. Pascual, the gathering brought together esteemed members of the RD Council, including Campus Directors, Research Chairs, and Center Directors. Dr. Pascual opened the meeting by revisiting the highlights of the previous 2nd RD Council Meeting, setting the tone for a purposeful and dynamic exchange of ideas. The first day centered on significant presentations, including the University’s Strategic Plan delivered by Dr. Pascual himself, and the introduction of Digital Commons Elsevier for the University Journals by Dr. Gamaliel G. Gonzales, ERRC Director. Research Chairs, Center Directors, and Tier 2 Project Leaders also shared accomplishment reports with budget utilization updates, providing the council with a clear picture of the status of budget disbursements and the ongoing conduct of projects across CTU campuses. A short budget forum was also conducted with the presence of the CAO-Finance Dr. Emma R. Sacan, to present the utilization rate of research and development funds and to address several finance-related concerns.

Furthermore, updates from Dr. Naomi A. Bajao, University Director for IPTBM, and Dr. Anesito L. Cutillas, University Director for Research Ethics, underscored the University’s commitment to ethical and innovative research practices. To enrich the discussions, Ms. Christine M. Corrales, OIC-University Director for R&D, presented updates on upcoming R&D activities, subscriptions, and CTU’s growing presence in national and international conferences. On the second day, the council conducted an initial review of the University’s IP Policy and RD Manual, setting the stage for improved governance in research management. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance CTU’s research agenda, strengthen collaboration among leaders, and uphold a culture of innovation, integrity, and impactful scholarship.
