College of Agriculture researcher studies favorable light spectrum and intensity for crops at BIOTEC

Jessa Rio is the third research fellow from the College of Agriculture who visited the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) at the Kingdom of Thailand to focus on “Preliminary Study of Light Absorption Spectra, Regeneration of Cuttings of Three Varieties and Seed Germination of Coleus (Plectrantus scutellaroides) Under Different Light Spectrum Inside Plant Factory.”

As the third instructor/researcher sent through an MOU between the Cebu Technological University and BIOTEC from October 1 to Dec. 25, 2018, Rio expected more research and exposure to the laboratories at the Center.

For her, “the said research fellowship brings great techniques and knowledge in adapting to advance farming; it was a great experience where the knowledge and techniques learned from the training were shared and incorporated to instruction; and most especially, it is an appropriate training ground knowing that our campus has just established a BIOTECH LAB”. –Cherry Oroc
