Rosalyn P. Alburo

Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Center (BENRC)

Prof. Rosalyn P. Alburo is a Professor III of Cebu Technological University Argao Campus and is currently the Center Director of the Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center (BENRC) of the university. Her first employment was as a Science Research Assistant at the Visayas State University, assigned to a project of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Food Science dealing on processing food products from sweet potato. She later transferred to the Office of the Director of Research and Extension of VSU and worked on the Annals of Tropical Research, the official research journal of the same university. In 1996, she joined the research team of Cebu State College of Science and Technology, now Cebu Technological University, as Education Program Specialist for Agriculture and Fisheries. Prof. Alburo became a member of the faculty of Cebu Technological University in 2003.

Alburo is a graduate of BS Agricultural Chemistry from the Visayas State College of Agricultural now Visayas State University. In 2008, she finished her Master of Arts in Public Administration major in Public Policy and Governance at the International Christian University at Mitaka City, Japan under the Japan International Cooperation Center - Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship Program 2006-2008 (JICE-JDSScholarship). She was a recipient of the Commission on Higher Education-Faculty Development Program (CHED-FDP) Grant for her Master of Science in Chemistry at the University of San Carlos from 2013-2015. Currently, she is finishing her Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry at the same university under the Department of Science and Technology – Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (DOST-ASTHRDP) Scholarship.

Alburo has published articles in scientific journals in the fields of environmental chemistry and public policy and governance. She also has utility models certified by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Her research interests are in agricultural chemistry particularly natural products, environmental chemistry and ecological policy and governance.

Hemres M. Alburo

Non-Timber Forest Product

Prof. Hemres M. Alburo has been teaching Forestry for 26 years starting 1995. He is handling Forest Ecology, Watershed Management, Tree Physiology, and Research among other courses. He has served as Research Chairman in Argao campus for seven years and the University Director for Research and Development from 2015-2019. He was awarded as Regional Outstanding Forester for Region 7 in 2019 by the Society of Filipino Foresters. He is currently holding an academic rank of Professor 6 and is currently designated as Section Head for Non-timber Forest Products of the Center.

Professor Alburo finished his undergraduate degree in Forestry at Cebu State College of Science and Technology – Agro-Industrial and Forestry College (now CTU Argao Campus) in 1994 with latin honors. He earned his Master of Science in Environmental management degree at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Lahug Cebu City in 2004 as a Civil Service Scholar under the Local Scholarship Program for Master’s Degree (LSP-MD). He finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management at the Cebu State College of Science and Technology – Main Campus in 2007. He also obtained a degree in Master of Arts in Public Administration at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan in 2012 as a Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholar. He is presently working on his second dissertation at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City for the degree in Doctor of Philosophy in Biology major in Environmental Science as a DOST scholar.

He is interested in doing biodiversity and environmental science studies. Specifically, he has studied birds and bats in addition to general biodiversity assessment works.

Edgardo P. Lillo

He has been teaching in the Forestry Department of Cebu Technological University Argao Campus for almost three decades. He has served as Dean of the College of Agriculture and Forestry from November 2019 to 2021 and Chairman of the College Forestry and Agriculture from 2011 to 2015. He worked as a consultant on seven (7) projects from 2013 until present. He is currently holding an academic rank of Professor 4 and is currently designated as the Museum Section Head Curator of the Center.

Professor Lillo finished his undergraduate degree in Forestry at Visayas State University – Visca, Baybay City Leyte in 1990. He earned his Certificate Education degree at the Cebu State College of Science and Technology – Agro-Industrial and Forestry College (now CTU Argao Campus) in 2000. He finished his Master of Arts in Education specializing in Administration and Supervision at the Cebu Normal University in 1994. He also earned a Master of Science in Forestry Specializing Vegetation Science Minor in Soil Science at the Visayas State University, Baybay City, Leyte in 2004. He also finished Doctor Philosophy in Technology Management at the Cebu State College of Science and Technology–Main Campus in 2007. He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry Specializing Plant Taxonomy minor in Botany at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Laguna as a DOST Scholar in 2017.

He is interested in doing biodiversity and environmental science studies. Specifically, he has studied taxonomy and botany in addition to general biodiversity assessment works.

Anesito L. Cutillas

Social Sciences Research

Anesito L. Cutillas is an Associate Professor V at Cebu Technological University Argao Campus. He has been teaching Philosophy and Social Sciences subjects in the Graduate School and the undergraduate programs since 2005.

Professor Cutillas finished his Doctor in Development Education at Cebu Technological University, Cebu in 2014 and his Master of Arts in Education major in Administration and Supervision in 2012 at the same University. As a CHED Scholar, he also took up a Master of Arts in Philosophy (MA Philosophy), in line with his specialization, at Silliman University, Dumaguete City in 2021. He finished his AB Philosophy at the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu City in 2000. He previously served as the Chair of the Social Sciences Department and Dean of the Graduate School. At present, he is the Coordinator for Research in the Graduate School Program; a member of the Ethical Review Committee (ERC), CTU Argao; and the Social Science Research Officer of Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center (BENRC), CTU Argao campus.

He is interested in doing social, political and environmental ethics studies. Currently, he is doing some studies on Axel Honneth’s theory of recognition and its relevance to the indigenous people (IP’s), the elderly individuals and the people in the margins including the farmers.

Emilyn Lasquites

She has been working as Research Aide at Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center - Food Innovation Laboratory Section since 2018. She also worked as Pastry Chef at Sarrosa International Hotel and Residential Suites in F. Cabahug St. Ayala Access Road, Cebu City from 2004 – 2006.

Ms. Lasquites finished her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology at the Cebu State College of Science and Technology in 2004.

Kristyne Rose Goelin

Ms. Kristyne Rose Goelin is currently working as Science Research Assistant at Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center and at the same time as a Part-time Instructor handling Chemistry subjects at the Cebu Technological University Argao Campus starting January 2020. She worked as an Intern Analyst at Kerry Foods in Mactan Export Processing Zone 1, Lapu-Lapu City, from April 2018-May 2018.

Ms. Goelin finished her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of San Carlos – Talamban Campus in 2019.

She is interested in doing Environmental Chemistry studies.

Elisa Garciano

Ms. Elisa Garciano has been working as Research Aide at Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center – Chemistry Laboratory Section since October 2020. She also worked as a Laboratory Assistant at the Chemistry Department (PhyChem and Inorganic Laboratory) - University of San Carlos Talamban Campus from August 2018 – October 2020.

Ms. Garciano earned her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Entrepreneurship at the Southern Leyte State University – Hinunangan Campus, Sogod Southern Leyte in 2018.

Mr. Neil Yuan has been working as Research Aide at Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center (BENRC) – Cebu Technological University Argao Campus since April 2019.

Mr. Yaun finished his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Major in Agronomy at Cebu Technological University Argao Campus in 2018.

Michael Cardoza

Mr. Michael Cardoza started working as Research Aide at Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center - Food Innovation Laboratory Section in October 2020. He also worked as Kitchen Assistant at the Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City Cebu from April 2017 – May 2018.

Mr. Cardoza earned his undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management at the Southern Leyte State University –Hinunangan Campus, Sogod Southern Leyte in 2013.

Elmar M. Patiga

Science Research Assistant

Mr. Elmar M. Patiga has been working as Science Research Assistant in Cebu Technological University Argao Campus under the supervision of Dr. Rosalyn P. Alburo and Dr. Hemres M. Alburo since March 2016. He has published articles in scientific journals in the fields of animal nutrition.

Mr. Patiga completed his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Production at the Cebu Technological University Barili Campus as a scholar of the Department of Agriculture- Agricultural Acceleration Competitive Enhancement Program (DA-ACEF) in 2015. He earned his Master of Science in Animal Science degree at the Visayas State University – Visca, Baybay City, Leyte as Commission on Higher Education Graduate Studies Program scholar (CHED Scholar) in June 2019. He is presently enrolled in Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science at the Cebu Technological University Barili Campus.

He is interested in doing Animal Nutrition studies. Specifically, in supplementation feeding, feedstuff processing and utilization, In situ & In vivo digestibility, grazing studies and pasture management and feed processing.
