Center for Communication and Media Research (CCMR)
The Center for Communication and Media Research aims to provide excellent and relevant programs and assist the Cebu Technological University administrators, university directors, and campus directors in implementing the policies on print media, website, social media, broadcast, advertising and online instructional materials. This center also provides the Federation Student Journalists, students, and faculty with curricular programs relevant to Communication and Media with workshops and training that equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude in becoming responsible and ethical journalists and broadcasters of the university.
VISION
The Center for Communication and Media Research produces communication and media studies, digital radio and television programs, and open educational resources in collaboration with professional organizations, learning institutions, government agencies to strengthen instruction, research and development, community extension and production of the university.
MISSION
The Center for Communication and Media Research provides capacity-building activities to students and faculty to produce communication and media studies relevant to the instruction, research and development, community extension and production of the university and contributes in attaining sustainable development goals.

OBJECTIVES
To equip the student journalists with the journalistic and broadcasting skills
To provide capacity building of the faculty members and students who will be involved in the digital radio programs of the university.
GENERAL/KEY FUNCTIONS
Ensure the delivery of the target outputs of the CMC;
Generate research proposals for funding or external grants;
Promote and support the development of academic excellence and strong research culture within the CMC;
Produce scientific publications in accredited and/or reputable journals or scientific;
Lead in rendering relevant community extension activities;
Coordinate to relevant authorities to strengthen relevant course/programs of CTU;
Ensure the conduct of ethical research and standards;
Ensure that the workplace considers the health and safety and risk management of staff employed in the CMC;
Implement policies for the efficient operations of the CMC;
Determine and manage the human resource component of the CMC;
Form strong linkages with professional, industry, education, community groups and other institutions relevant to the Center's activities.
Monitor the performance of the RDCI using the following indicators as guide:
Number of proposals submitted to funding agencies/institutions;
Amount and type of grants received;
Number of publications, patents and utility models;
Number of CTU faculty members involved;
Capability trainings or RDCI activities conducted;
Extension community activities;
Undergraduate and graduate students supported;
Linkages and collaborations forged or maintained;
Visibility of activities and accomplishments through the website or related media.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
The Center for Communication and Media Research commenced in September 2019. It focused first on student publication and campus journalism by being part in organizing the seminar workshop in October 2019 for the Federation of Student journalists. Currently, the center is now in its second phase in planning for the university radio programs (digital first) in collaboration with the external campuses’ radio stations.
