University Director for Research and Development (UDRD)
A university wide administrative position that is appointed by the Board of Regents through the recommendation of the Office of the President. The University Director for Research and Development (UDRD) shall directly report to the University Vice President for Research and Development (UVPRD), and shall assist the UVPRD in the implementation of the R and D program of the University.
The UD-RD shall assists the VPRD in the implementation of the Research Mandate Functions of the university, reviews the quality of scientific papers or manuscripts for external presentation, facilitate the review of all submitted research proposals and technical papers especially when external evaluators are needed, assists in the preparation of budget requests and releases for all research projects that will be funded by the University, conducts periodic monitoring of research projects and R and D centers to ensure proper implementation and timely completion of all funded research projects and targets, facilitates the conduct of regular Research Congress or similar activities of the University, recommends the giving of awards and recognition to outstanding research units and researchers of the University, maintains a database of projects conducted in the University to avoid duplication and over commitment to a particular research topic, maintains the circulation of research outputs to various SUCs, agencies and libraries, Assists in the conduct of research capability enhancement activities of the university, Conducts consultation with researchers on research endeavors in and outside the university, and perform other related functions as may be required by the VPRD, President and/or Board of Regents.

MISSION
The University shall primarily provide advanced professional and technical instruction for special purposes, advanced studies in industrial trade, agriculture, fishery, forestry, aeronautics, and land-based programs, arts and sciences, health sciences, information technology and other relevant fields of study. It shall also undertake research and extension services and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.
R AND D GOALS
The Research and Development of the University will:
Develop a deep research and innovation culture;
Provide quality research and development programs that are attuned to the needs of the community in various disciplines;
Produce research outputs that can alleviate or help mitigate existing local, regional and national challenges; and
Promote the dissemination of university research and innovation outputs in reputable scientific journals and its utilization by the stakeholders.
R AND D OBJECTIVES
The R and D of the University aim to:
Conduct quality research in engineering, technology and industrial trade, agriculture, veterinary medicine, fishery, forestry and natural resources, aeronautics and land-based programs, basic services and education, arts, humanities and sciences, health sciences, tourism, information technology and other allied sciences aligned to institutional, regional, national and international R and D agenda;
Augment R and D funding support and source that is generated internally and externally;
Increase R and D output disseminations and utilizations to stakeholders (institutions, professional associations, community, industry, local government units; other e);
Strengthen, establish and expand linkages with local, national and international research institutions and organizations; and
Build an image of quality institutional R and D through relevant recognitions, accreditations and awards by the faculty, staff, students, R and D centers, and the University.
GENERAL/KEY FUNCTIONS
Assists the UVPRD in the implementation of the Research Mandate Functions of the university;
