
Cebu Technological University Research Ethics Committee spearheaded the seminar-workshop on the Ethical Review Process on November 21- 22, 2019 at the Cebu Technological University Main Campus.

Dr. Joseph Pepito gave the welcome address and presented the participants. Further, Dr. Sheilalaine Romulo explained that the purpose of the seminar-workshop is to prepare CTU faculty for the rigors of ethical review which will soon be required to all researches involving human participants.
On the first day, Dr. Romulo discussed the mandate and structure of CTU- UREC, the legal bases for the ethical review, and the information in the research ethics review application.
In addition, Dr. Rogelio John Villamor Jr. discussed the principles of research ethics review system while Dr. Ryan Urbano talked about the types of review (assessment of risks) and shared his experiences in ethical research review process in his former employer, University of San Carlos.
Dr. Raaman Rosales also discussed the required documents for the initial protocol submission and the process flow.
Then, the first workshop on How to fill out the REC Forms in the afternoon session followed.

On November 22, 2019, the seminar-workshop continued with the following topics on how to identify ethical issues in the protocol facilitated by Prof. Jonash Durano and the privacy and anonymization of data, and ethical review modelling.
