San Fernando, Cebu – January 30, 2026 – Cebu Technological University (CTU) San Fernando Campus burst into a colorful celebration of faith, culture, and community today as it hosted the annual Sinulog Fiesta at its lively quadrangle.
The event opened with inspiring remarks from Campus Director Mr. Wilfredo G. Anoos. “Maayong fiesta kanatong tanan,” he began, framing the 9th Feast of Señor Sto. Niño de Cebú as a “testimony” of the campus’s journey from its 2010 founding with just 41 students in a barangay hall, through years of challenges and relocations, to its current thriving home, crediting it all to the Child Jesus’s grace. “For every good that has come to us… We give glory to God through the loving intercession of the Sto. Niño,” Anoos declared, calling the celebration a collective “thank you” for growth in enrollment, programs, and facilities since starting their novena tradition in 2018. He closed with, “May this celebration renew our faith… Daghang salamat ug Viva Señor Sto. Niño!”

Gracing the occasion was Hon. Carlos Miguel B. Canoy, Chairman of the Committee on Education, who delivered a special message emphasizing the role of cultural traditions in unity and progress.
Hundreds of students, faculty, and staff gathered under the bright Cebuano sun to honor the Santo Niño through traditional rituals that blended devotion with dynamic performances.

The festivities continued with a solemn Holy Mass, setting a reverent tone. An energetic procession followed, winding through the grounds with dancers in vibrant costumes chanting “Pit Señor!” The highlight was the Sinulog dance presentation by CTU student groups, whose intricate steps earned thunderous applause and preserved Cebuano heritage.
Mr. Wilfredo G. Anoos expressed delight at the turnout, noting, “This celebration strengthens our community bonds and instills pride in our Filipino roots.” The event wrapped with shared meals, energizing all for Cebu’s ongoing Sinulog season.
As Cebu continues its grand festivities citywide, CTU San Fernando’s gathering exemplifies how educational institutions keep the tradition alive.
