Aspiring industrial engineers can now pursue the latest program offering of Cebu Technological University (CTU) in Tabogon and San Remigio, setting the foundation of Cebu province’s planned economic zone in the 4th district.
CTU Daanbantayan received requests in July from aforesaid municipalities for Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) to be offered in its extension campuses for the academic year 2020-2021.
Essentially, approved resolutions contended that the degree program particularly supplements the fourth district in its goal of becoming an industrial hub in the northern part of Cebu as projected by the current leadership.
The news was well-received by around 80 applicants expected to enroll in either of the campuses, whichever is viable for them in terms of proximity.
Given CTU’s adherence to free-tertiary-education policy, it is presumed that not only Daanbantayan campus but also those in San Remigio and Tabogon will draw more applicants from other 4th district composites as Bogo City and the municipalities of Bantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, San Remigio, Santa Fe, Tabogon and Tabuelan.
Though CTU has extension campuses in Bantayan and Tabuelan, only information technology and hospitality management programs are currently prioritized.
The latest reports from BSIE chairpersons in both campuses confirmed 60% compliance with requirements from the Commission on Higher Education./Nikkithea Beduya/ICPA Daanbantayan
