CTU Tabogon’s Graduating Students Seminar aims to empower the future

On January 31, 2024, the Cebu Technological University Daanbantayan Campus—Tabogon Extension played host to an enriching Pre-employment Advocacies Seminar tailored for Graduating Students, held at the CTU Tabogon Extension Gymnasium—Poblacion, Tabogon, Cebu. The primary objective of this seminar was to empower graduating students by imparting knowledge about post-graduation opportunities and furnishing them with indispensable tools to navigate their career aspirations successfully.

Setting the tone for the program, Engr. George Michael Geollina, the Chairperson of BSIE, extended a cordial welcome to the students. Dr. Rolina C. Paran, the Campus Director, followed suit by expressing her enthusiasm and gratitude to the esteemed speakers contributing to the event.

Mr. Joseph Abueva, an Instructor in BSHM and SSG Adviser, took the stage to introduce participants hailing from diverse programs, including Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education Major in Home Economics (BTLED-HE), Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE). Additionally, he introduced proficient speakers set to share their expertise during the seminar.

Commencing with the PESO (Public Employment Service Office) Orientation, Ms. Heziel Mae T. Bocado provided valuable insights. Subsequently, Ms. Sandy J. Hatamosa offered guidance on resume building and interview tips, while Mr. Jan Kieth Samuel P. Lucero explored the intricacies of Labor Education, encompassing topics such as employee rights, entitlements, social protection, termination causes, waiver, government fees, and overseas employment basics.

Post-speaker presentations, students were encouraged to actively engage by posing questions and seeking clarifications. The culmination of the event featured the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the school’s gratitude towards the speakers. Furthermore, Ms. Cherrylene G. Macachor, the Internship Coordinator, eloquently delivered the closing remarks, summarizing the significance of the seminar.

This seminar proved to be an invaluable experience for students, equipping them with insights crucial for making informed decisions regarding their future career paths.
