The Cebu Technological University – Daanbantayan Campus Tabogon Extension recently hosted an orientation and parents’ meeting on January 31, 2024, to provide essential information and insights for teaching internship students. The event unfolded in the newly-constructed covered court of the school, drawing the attendance of pre-service teachers, parents or guardians, distinguished speakers, as well as faculty and staff.
Dr. Rolina C. Paran, the esteemed Campus Director of CTU Tabogon Extension, graced the occasion by extending a warm welcome to parents and expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. Dr. Paran emphasized the pivotal role of parental support in ensuring the success of pre-service teachers. The gathering delved into crucial matters pertaining to teaching internships, featuring enlightening discussions led by esteemed guest speakers.
Prof. Felixberto T. Lucabon Jr., the Assistant Campus Director and Dean of Instruction from CTU Daanbantayan Campus, took the stage to present the joint CHED-DepEd Memorandum of Agreement. His detailed presentation covered the guidelines and procedures outlined in the agreement, benefiting both pre-service teachers and cooperating schools.
Professor Braulio M. Diongson, the Chairman of Teaching Internship, tackled another essential topic, providing in-depth insights into the teaching internship requirements and specific details related to pre-service teaching activities. Acknowledging the demanding nature of practice teaching life, Professor Diongson underscored the necessity for thorough preparation by stating, “This is the most demanding job for pre-service teachers.” Attendees were encouraged to brace themselves for the challenges that lie ahead.
Subsequent to the informative presentations, an open forum was conducted to address any queries and provide clarity on the information shared. Facilitated by Ms. Rubylyn Enero, the forum allowed for active participation and engagement from the audience.
The event concluded with closing remarks delivered by Professor Cherrylene G. Macachor, the Internship Coordinator, on behalf of Professor Alerica B. Frias. With the collaborative efforts of the program host, Ms. Rhona Mae I. Colegado, and the dedicated faculty and staff, the orientation and parents’ meeting reached a successful conclusion.
