Cebu Technological University – Tabuelan

Campus History

It was through the ardent initiative of the late Fourth District of Cebu Representative Benhur Salimbangon to provide the community of Tabuelan and its adjacent municipalities accessible and affordable tertiary education, that Cebu Technological University (CTU) Tabuelan came to be. The zeal of having a campus cascaded down to the Local Government Unit of Tabuelan and Cebu Technological University, culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement by Hon. Benhur L. Salimbangon, Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr., University President, and Hon. Rex Casiano T. Gerona, Municipal Mayor in 2018.

CTU Tabuelan officially opened its doors to the students on August 7, 2018 with the appointment of Dr. Ma. Carla Y. Abaquita, as its first Campus Director. The Campus offered two-degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor in Industrial Technology (BIT) major in Computer Technology. While waiting for the completion of the new building on the new campus site in Barangay Tabunok, classes were held at the old government buildings at the town proper. In 2018, the student population was 84, 40 of which were BSHM and 44 were BIT students. In 2019, after its completion, classes were transferred to the new two-story structure, a building that includes a faculty room, computer laboratory and lecture rooms.

In 2021, construction of another classroom building is underway to give room to its 151-student population and growing.
