On December 12, 2024, faculty members and employees of CebuTech Tuburan gathered in the Bulawanong Tinubdan Cultural Center to celebrate the culmination of the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW). Spearheaded by the Office of the Gender and Development (GAD), the campaign was launched on November 25, 2024.
COEd GAD Coordinator Dr. Adelliosa Menchavez formally opened the program through her Opening Remarks. COE GAD Coordinator Engr. Aea Georgette Yamson presented and acknowledged the participants. Student winners of the recently concluded VAW Dance Drama Competition graced the hall by performing their winning pieces. Participants were admitted by Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) – English, and Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) moved the audience with their captivating performance.
Registered Guidance Counselor Ms. Virnalyn Porte delivered an engaging and informative talk highlighting the significance of mental health well-being, sports psychology’s role, and other pertinent topics. The session began with an introduction from BSIT GAD Coordinator Mrs. Catherine Loseñara, who set the stage for the esteemed speaker. The event was skillfully hosted by CAS Instructor Mr. Arman Sequillo, creating a smooth and engaging experience for all participants.
In conclusion, the celebration at the Bulawanong Tinubdan Cultural Center marked not only the end of the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women but also a powerful reminder of the importance of community engagement in fostering a safe and supportive environment for all. The remarkable performances, insightful talks, and heartfelt discussions reinforced the collective commitment of CebuTech Tuburan to advocating for gender equality and mental health awareness.
