“This training gave me hope for a better future,” said one inmate. Cebu Technological University Tuburan Campus (CTU) Community Extension Program, GASA (Gainful Activities For Social Advancement), recently concluded its impactful “Training in Electricity and Electronics” program at the Tuburan District Jail. From September 7th to December 5th, 2024, this initiative equipped inmates with valuable skills to empower them for a brighter future. Through a collaborative effort with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tuburan, the program provided a comprehensive learning experience covering theoretical and practical aspects of electricity and electronics.
CTU-Tuburan Campus instructors from the College of Technology delivered engaging sessions, equipping inmates with skills in basic circuitry, troubleshooting, and safe electrical practices. The training, exceeding its initial planned duration, included 56 hours of hands-on learning, ensuring participants gained a solid foundation in the field. The program’s success is evident in the inmates’ enthusiastic participation and positive feedback. The training equipped them with valuable skills and fostered a sense of purpose and hope for a brighter future. Cebu Technological University is proud to have empowered these individuals and looks forward to continuing its commitment to community development through its GASA program.
