
The GAA Community Extension Project, known as The PANDAY Project (Pagpalambo sa Abilidad alang sa Nindot nga Dagan sa kinabuhi ug Yayong sa Kaugmaon), celebrated its culmination on January 11, 2025, at the Caridad Covered Court, Barangay Caridad, Tuburan, Cebu. This initiative, aimed at empowering the community through skill development and sustainable opportunities in the field of construction, concluded with resounding success.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the College of Engineering faculty, led by Engr. Alden Q. Gabuya Jr., dean of the College of Engineering; Engr. John Philip Y. Yape, BSCE chairman and project leader; Engr. JJ L. Montebon, lead project implementer; and Engr. Lea Marie P. Relavo, project member. The PICE-CTUTC Officers and local barangay officials, including Hon. Edgardo Canoy, Barangay Councilor, and Mrs. Evangeline Tapang, Barangay Secretary, joined the celebration. Although some of the participants were not present due to commitments from their respective jobs, the active participation of the project beneficiaries added to the eventβs success.

During the culmination, project leaders and participants reflected on the journey of The PANDAY Project, which provided hands-on training and education to empower community members with skills relevant to their personal and professional growth. Through this initiative, participants gained valuable knowledge and expertise that will contribute to their livelihoods and long-term community development. In his message, Engr. Alden Q. Gabuya Jr. emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and communities in fostering sustainable development. He also acknowledged the dedication of the faculty members and students in bringing the project to fruition. Engr. John Philip Y. Yape, the Project Leader, expressed his gratitude to the local government of Barangay Caridad for their unwavering support and to the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the project.

The PANDAY Project has truly lived up to its name, serving as a beacon of hope and progress for Barangay Caridad. The College of Engineering and its partners reaffirm their commitment to continuing such initiatives that empower communities and drive sustainable change.
