Empowering Research, Advancing Gender Responsiveness

To contribute towards achieving inclusive and ethical research methodologies, a Training-Workshop on Gender Responsiveness in Research Writing was convened on May 2, 2025, and was participated in by CebuTech Tuburan faculty members from the different colleges and student interns from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) and the Bachelor of Arts in Literature (BAL).

Hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the event featured sessions that were led by invited resource persons—Dr. Antonio Cinco, Jr., and Dr. Sylvester Cortes.

Dr. Cinco conducted an eye-opening session on gender responsiveness in research writing, highlighting the importance of considering gender in one’s analysis of the research problem through the adoption of a more inclusive lens. His discussion further elucidated the significance of considering how gender issues affect research as well as its consequences on the life of society.

Dr. Cortes, via Zoom teleconferencing, presented a technical yet very essential aspect of research publication. He empowered participants with manuscript writing, dealing with common errors, and the growing concerns about predatory journals.

The activity organized by CAS, the Research and Development (RD) Office, and the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, underlines gender sensitivity as a crucial area that research must address, alongside other vital social issues anchored on strong multidisciplinary collaboration.
