Philippine Coast Guard Partners with CebuTech Tuburan for Earthquake Relief Efforts

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, more than 50 volunteers—composed of faculty, employees, and students from CebuTech Tuburan—traveled to Hagnaya Port in San Remigio in response to a request from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The team dedicated about four hours unloading rescue kits from the sea vessel to wing vans. These kits are intended for quake victims in Northern Cebu.

CebuTech Tuburan volunteers helped transfer 2,031 rescue kits from Philippine Coast Guard barges to wing vans and trucks after quake damage made Hagnaya Port unsafe for trucks. The supplies, including tents, mats, and flashlights, will be distributed to quake victims in Northern Cebu. This quick response aided relief efforts despite logistical challenges.

The volunteers were led by Dr. Devonna Celedonio, Extension Service Office Chair, and Dr. Ingersol Ed Guias, NSTP Chair. The team also expressed gratitude to LGU – Tuburan, through the efforts of Prof. Siegfried Mendoza, for providing the transportation vehicle that made the relief operations possible.

This collaborative effort helped deliver much-needed aid quickly to those affected by the earthquake.
