CebuTech Tuburan recently hosted an International Symposium on Stingless and Honey Bees on May 25, 2026, at the campus’s Bulawanong Tinubdan Cultural Hall. The event featured Prof. Giorgio Venturieri of Australia’s University of the Sunshine Coast, alongside representatives from various international organizations.
Among the esteemed resource persons were Ms. Ma Tet Al Motawa and Mr. Ali Al Motawa, owners of Al Bustan Farm; Mr. Epifanio Loyola and Mr. Alberto Batolata, President and Vice President of BEENET Philippines, respectively; Mr. Moises Paradero, Beekeeper; and Ms. Gala Enerio.
Facilitated by the Internationalization and ASEAN Integration (IAI) office, the event was also graced by campus IAI Chairpersons and IAI University Director Dr. Rhodora Magan. In addition to the Tuburan campus, the symposium drew participation from other agriculture-oriented campuses, including Argao, and Barili. The event successfully centered on knowledge exchange in sustainable apiculture and apitherapy, pollination, and honey production.
The symposium was a meaningful experience for students and the university alike, opening doors to new partnerships and deeper knowledge in sustainable beekeeping.
