CTU Tuburan community extension project DAGAT (Developing Associated Groups in Alternative Technical Skills) Welding Extension Program was successfully launched on August 22, 2026, with a formal opening ceremony held in Barangay Carmelo, Tuburan, Cebu. The program, which offers training in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW NC I), was developed to provide selected barangay residents with access to practical, alternative technical skills.

Project Leader Mr. Jonel P. Delimon welcomed the beneficiaries and everyone in attendance, while Prof. Devonna M. Celedonio, Extension Services chairperson, presented the program’s purpose, and Engr. Fernando N. Mangubat Jr., College of Technology dean, affirmed the university’s commitment to extending learning beyond the classroom. The event also featured a message from Hon. Gil M. Perez, Barangay Captain of Barangay Carmelo, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring the training to local residents.

By equipping community members with a practical and marketable skill, DAGAT lays the groundwork for future employment, self-employment, and livelihood opportunities. The program reflects CTU – Tuburan Campus’s continuing commitment to community extension, showing how accessible technical education can empower individuals and strengthen the communities they belong to.
