GASA sa SELDA Year 3: Empowering PDLs

GASA sa SELDA Year 3 Opening Program

The opening program for the launch of the Year 3 phase of the GASA sa SELDA Project was held on September 11, 2026, formally marking the start of another year of community-based interventions for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at Tuburan District Jail.

The activity brought together the extension team from CTU Tuburan, jail personnel, project implementers, student participants, and beneficiaries to reaffirm their shared commitment to empowerment, sustainable livelihood, and productive reintegration. Anchored on CTU’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives, the project will strengthen the beneficiaries’ competencies in financial management, branding, enterprise development, and sustainable business practices, while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the event, two projects were formally launched. The first, “Threads of Hope: From Thimble to Triumphs for PDLs,” empowers beneficiaries of the previous phase by giving them the opportunity to serve as trainers for the current batch of PDLs, enabling them to pass on skills and knowledge within the community. The second, the Business and Financial Management Skills Training, marks Phase 2 of the Bread and Pastry Training, further building the beneficiaries’ capacity in entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

Through this initiative, the project continues to translate academic expertise into meaningful community action and promote innovation, social responsibility, resilience, and inclusive economic opportunities for marginalized sectors.
